As part of the 'getting to know you' chit-chat, the celebs
inevitably talked about their showbiz jobs during their first
Melinda revealed to Sue that she didn't always see herself
in the line of work she ended-up in and hinted that it was
kind-of accidental. "I wouldn't say that I wanted to
come into (modelling)," she declared.
Mark talked about how his road to fame was somewhat by chance.
"I met all the lads for the first time in a club in Manchester,"
he recalled, referring to his former 'Take That' band members.
"There were six of us, one bloke left after five minutes
and that was that," he added.
Les talked about how he didn't think it was fair for his kids
to be mentioned when the media discuss him. He was basically
saying that as adults, celebrities choose to go into the business
and should expect some cr*p. However, the children of celebrities
have not made such a choice.
About her job as a presenter of breakfast TV show TV-am alongside
Nick Owen, Anne said that although she did it for many, many
years, a lot of what she'd done and who she'd met is now something
of a blur.
This was put down, in part, to the fact that she had to get
up at 3am each morning to get to the studio in time. She conceded
that it was a great job however.
At least she was flatteringly hailed as the 'Queen of daytime
TV' by her new friends, particularly Goldie, who admitted
to having had a 'thing' for Anne in her younger days.
