Jonathan Threatens To Quit
Jonathan has been to the Diary Room this evening to tell
Big Brother that he wants to quit. Gordon Bennett! Not another
His precise reasons aren't entirely clear, but the second-oldest
housemate told Big Bruv that he gave up a lot to come on the
show, and has now had enough.
This was most likely a reference to the fact that he postponed
his marriage to appear on Big Brother 8, not a great sign
for his missus-to-be if we're being totally honest!
The mulit-millionaire apologised for wasting people's time,
but was duly asked to sleep on it by Big Bro.
Jonathan later told his peers, "I just think it's the
right time... 'cos I've learnt all I need to know. It's all
He then came-out with some spiel about how he'd come on the
show to test himself, and has come to the conclusion that
appearing in front of 8 million people is not enough; he would
have to keep doing this for the rest of his life.
We don't really understand Jonathan's reasoning, but he basically
claimed that he'd found-out he's 'not useless', adding, "I've
been waiting for someone to tell me 'You're no good', but
I keep getting the answer, 'Actually, you're very good'".
During his many talks about himself throughout the evening,
he also suggested rather strangely, "Now I can write
books, make movies, get married..."
Whatever his reasons for wanting to go, we think that anyone
who quits Big Brother is very lame indeed. These people know
the score before they audition: there will be hardship, friction
and fun, you'll meet people you despise, there will inevitably
be arguments, you'll be bossed around, deprived, rewarded,
pushed to the limits etc etc etc.
It's a psychology experiment after all, but we have no time
for people who – perhaps after watching 7 series of
Big Brother – get themselves on the show and then say
it's not what they thought it would be. Doh!
It remains to be seen whether the advertising boss will carry
out his threat and follow in the footsteps of Day 11 quitter
Lesley, but in the meantime, his peers have told him that
they'll miss him if he goes.
Fans, by and large, will not.
