Big Brother Catches-up With BB3's Adele
Channel 4 caught-up with former Big Brother 3 housemate Adele
Roberts, in advance of her arrival in the Big Brother House
to help-out with the latest Time Travel task.
BB - What are you doing now?
At the moment I'm working at a radio station in Preston and
I'm also DJing as well, which is what I did before.
BB - Can you give us an idea what you've done since
you left the BB House?
It was a bit strange for me, 'cos when I left the House I
think I was probably the first Big Brother housemate to come
out to a negative reception. So, even though people had been
disliked before, they'd never been booed and I was the first
person to get all-round boos.
I just decided to go back home. I got invited to do lots
of things and got offers from agents and stuff, but I just
didn't want to do it. I just wanted to find myself again.
BB - Do you still get recognised?
I still get recognised every week.
BB - But you look totally different now, compared
to when you were in the House... (she has a short spiky haircut)
I know! I just deny it and say it's my sister or my cousin,
but in the end you just get yourself in trouble and have to
just say 'Yeah, it's me!'
BB - Have you ever got sick of the attention?
Yeah, pretty-much from day one. I suppose people must think
that I'm naive for thinking that I wouldn't get attention,
but I just didn't know that Big Brother 3 was going to be
so big. We had Jade and she pretty much is reality TV, she's
the biggest, best person ever. As I was in the House with
Jade, some of the attention came to me because so many people
watched; it was inevitable. It did scare me and I couldn't
wait to get back to obscurity again.
BB - You were a bit of a controversial housemate,
but who'd win in an argument, you or Charley?
Ha ha! I actually like Charley, so I wouldn't fight with
her. I think she's brilliant. I think we would 'tag team'
BB3's Jade and Kate Lawler and kick their butts!
BB - David and Shanessa left last week, but which
Halfway Housemates would you have voted out?
I thought David would end-up in the House, but I can understand
why Shanessa didn't get voted in as I think she might be a
bit over the top. I think I would probably have voted Amy
out. I don't know if I'd get on with her; she seems a bit
BB - What was the best thing and worst thing about
doing Big Brother?
The best thing is that I have become a better person since
doing it. You learn not to take yourself so seriously and
also, you learn that if you don't like someone, it's your
problem and not theirs. The worst thing was upsetting my family,
because I didn't think it would affect them so much.
BB - What memories will be triggered when you go
back in the House?
(Adele gasps) If it looks like our House, I think I'll be
sick! Just being in that room again... because I think a lot
of the memories have gone and I think as soon as I step in
the room again it'll bring it all back.
BB - Who's your favourite housemate ever?
Out-of all of the people that have been on the show? Hmm,
I think Nicky from BB7, or Jade from BB3. I say Jade because
I respected how she had the guts to do the things that she
did when we were in the House. And Nicky just because she's
BB - Do you keep in touch with any of your fellow
housemates from Big Brother 3?
Coming back into the House has made me speak to Lee (Davey),
but that's the first time I've spoken to him in five years.
It was just like we'd spoken the other day and we got on straight
away. I haven't spoken to Alex for ages, only online and via
texts, so it will be nice to see him again.
BB - Well, you did snog him when you were in the
Yeah! Ha ha!
BB - Which of this year's housemates are you looking
forward to meeting?
I really want to meet Brian and I hope I get to meet him.
Also Tracey. And who else...? Ziggy, 'cos I remember him from
when he was in Northern Line! And Carole; she was my favourite
for ages. I don't know if I want to meet the Twins because
they might freak me out a bit.
BB - What advice would you give to this year's housemates?
Just be yourself. If you try and play the game too much,
Big Brother will make mincemeat out of you. So just be yourself
and have a good time.
