Hmm... one minute Steve is acting in a somewhat creepy manner,
being criticised by fans for being a bit of a perve and for
getting rather too close to the female housemates than is
advisable for a married man. The next minute, he's saying:
"I feel like a d*ck," seemingly aware that his actions
haven't been appropriate.
Yesterday, there was a forum thread on a certain entertainment
website, which talked about Steve's chances of winning and
also contained a link to our
article about Steve's recent behaviour.
In that thread, Big Brother big cheese Phil Edgar Jones actually
passed comment, and would doubtless have seen the article
in question. So it seems highly suspicious that within a matter
of hours, Steve had seemingly been warned-off, and fans have
been wondering if Big Bro said something to him last night.
Let's make it clear, we're not accusing Channel 4, Endemol
or PEJ (as the fans call him) of doing anything specifically.
Indeed, we know that Rachel definitely did say something
to him, so suggesting anything else would be pure speculation.
But you have to wonder if Channel 4 are back-pedalling and
helping Steve out now, fearful that their show – Big
Brother 11 – could be turning a 'war hero' into a letch,
therefore ruining his reputation and bringing a backlash against
Food for thought, but regardless of his flirty behaviour,
we'll be amazed if Steve wins this show because no amount
of positive editing can make him a nicer bloke or a more interesting
Not that there's anything wrong with him... which is the
standard moral disclaimer because you seemingly aren't allowed
to criticise the disabled/ war heroes, even if they bring
little to the show and just laze around dishing-out orders
and criticising their peers.
Fans suggested weeks ago that the producers probably want
Steve to win, but in our recent Poll asking if he deserves
to make it to the Final Three housemates, 65% of voters didn't
think he should go that far in the game, and considered the
41-year-old a bit too boring and only on the show because
of his injuries.
35% of voters thought of Steve as a decent bloke, however
their opinion of him might have changed since, especially
if they've been watching the live feed over the past few days.
