Can Sgt. Halfwit Make It To Field Marshall?

We wrote this article 9 days ago, basically saying that we weren't convinced Freddie could actually win. However, since then we've had to revise our thinking...

Tonight, having just found-out that he's facing eviction for the third time in a row, Freddie commented on the situation and told his peers out in the garden: "You know how they have, in the army, the name of the soldier and then the rank? My rank goes up every eviction that I pass an eviction".

The positive entrepreneur deemed himself a 'Sergeant' at the moment, and talked about moving up through the ranks as the series progresses: colour sergeant, lieutenant, major, brigadier etc.

And it looks like he'll make the next rank for sure, because early indications are that he will survive again this week against Angel. But it got us wondering, can the 24-year-old make it all the way to the hypothetical top British army rank of Field Marshall? In other words, can the man who is legally called Halfwit actually win the game?

We definitely think he's in with a good chance now, because he's such a complicated and eccentric character that he makes most other contenders appear dull by comparison. Indeed, Freddie seems to be gradually winning the public over and with odds at 5/2 at the time of writing, if his popularity continues to rise, the odds will only get shorter.

In other words, now is a good time to stick a few 'quid on Freddie if you think he'll make that top rank and scoop the £100k prize. A £20 stake on him would make £50 profit plus your stake back if successful, and a £50 bet on Freddie at 5/2 would make a profit of £125 (plus your stake back) if the bet came right. You may wish to back someone else though, a slight outsider such as Karly or Noirin? Remember, at this stage last year, absolutely no-one knew that Rachel might be in with a chance of winning.
