Tania Threatens To Quit
It's only his first day in the house but Gaetano has managed
to upset Tania and reduce her to tears already.
In the spirit of this week's task, some of the housemates
sat in the lounge and took turns to find 3 words that describe
each other tonight.
Tania was summed up as being: sensitive, funny and beautiful,
although the alternatives of boisterous, expressive, dizzy
and scatty also featured high on the list.
The group saw Scott as: optimistic, articulate/ intelligent
and humorous, but Nush slightly bent the rules of describing
housemates' characters, by cheekily adding he word:
Steph was seen as: sweet, maternal and grounded. Gos was deemed
to be: big hearted, emotional and funny. Nush was described
as flighty and Ray as a 'psychopathic nutter!'
However, when Gae returned from the shower to join-in the
discussion, he didn't really get the hang of things. And that's
putting it mildly!
Having his own stab at describing Tania, who he'd known for
less than 24 hours, the Ugandan referred to the chocolate-obsessed
23-year-old as 'piggerish', which he later revised to 'piggy',
just to make it more clear. Oh dear.
Upon hearing the startling comment, there was a nervous pause
from everyone before the African dug himself into an even
deeper hole by saying, "I don't mean it in a bad way,
but you eat a lot".
Woo-hoo, you tell it like it is son! Mr. Tickle would be proud.
Tania took immediate offence and challenged his remark by
saying to the group, "Gaetano has only met me today and
feels confident enough to call me a piggy". However,
when Nush tried to help out by down-playing his intended meaning,
he then added that she was also 'piggy' for eating lots of
As Tania stewed the others tried to help the new housemate
out of the situation and he back-pedalled by rephrasing and
suggesting that Tania had, "A healthy appetite".
However that wasn't any better and a sensitive Tania rushed
off to the girls' room to blub to Steph.
Nush quickly followed and as the tears flowed, Tania went
into a rant about she wasn't going to be spoken-to in that
way and how she wanted to leave the house straight away. "I
feel abused," added the whimpering drama queen.
The other girls tried to calm her down and explained that
things were different in Africa, suggesting that perhaps that
kind of banter was acceptable over there. "You are beautiful.
You are breathtaking. The boys can't handle it," offered
Nush, attempting to make her feel better.
As Tania remained in the bedroom and vowed not to talk to
him at all the next day, Scott and Gos sat drinking with their
new pal who clarified that he didn't mean to offend Tania
and had simply used inappropriate words.
And as the 31-year-old student went to bed at around 4am,
the two lads concluded that he was a 'sound' and 'brilliant
bloke'. Oh blimey, it looks like we're in for a 'boys vs girls'
situation all over again for the next few days at least!
