Has Kat's Popularity Waned?

Following on from this article last week – where we speculated about who could beat Kat (with a somewhat surprising suggestion) – we're now wondering if the cookie-loving housemate's popularity has waned.

As we pointed-out in the aforementioned article, Kat has been the favourite to win pretty-much since the first week of the game, overtaking initial favourite Mikey on about Day 4. However, some fans have started to tire of her emotional outbursts when there's turmoil in the House.

But it's not only Kat's crying that has riled fans, she has also been accused of not doing much generally and even playing-up to the cameras by changing her voice when the show goes live on eviction nights. She is a 30-year-old woman after all, not a silly teenager.

Also, Kat recorded VTs for both the main show and BBLB before she went into the House, where she shouted about 'cookies'. So, rather than put it down to eccentricity, some fans have accused her of using a deliberate and contrived gimmick in-order to try and win the show.

Even so, she seems to have laid off the 'cookie power' lately, so fans have begun to question what Kat has to offer, and wonder why she should win the £100k prize money.

We ran a Poll from the Saturday after Jen went home to the weekend just gone, asking, 'Has you opinion of Kat changed since the first week?' 42% of voters felt the same about the massage therapist, 22% liked her more and 36% had gone off her recently.

So, if you discount all the people who felt the same about Kat (regardless of whether that's 'like' or 'dislike' her), when the last two figures are weighted it shows that, of the people who's opinions have changed since Week 1, 62% have gone off Kat and 38% like her more.

Therefore, we can conclude that her popularity has waned, although we're keen to stress that there's still two months to go and she could easily make a comeback.

Indeed, Kat is still the favourite to win Big Brother 9, although this year the likely winner is rather uncertain at this stage, which can only be a good thing for viewers.
