Tonight's The Night: Big Brother 9 Begins
Is it really that time of year again? You BETCHA!
After what seems like an eternity (actually it's nine months
since BB8 ended... let's pretend Celebrity Hijack didn't happen),
fans will tonight be able to get a much-needed 'Big Brother
fix' again. Woo – and as they say – hoo!
Yep, longstanding host Davina McCall will kick things off
this evening, Thursday the 5th of June 2008, with the 100-minute
live Launch show starting on Channel 4 at 9pm.
Of course, regular catch-up shows will follow every weeknight
on Channel 4, with live eviction shows on Fridays. There will
also be around-the-clock live streaming/ red button coverage
on E4, and not only that, but BBLB returns to E4 every weeknight
and to T4 on Sundays.
Big Brother's Big Mouth will be aired on E4 from Tuesday
to Friday, and Diary Room Uncut can be seen on E4 at the weekends.
What else can we tell you about the new series that we haven't
mentioned before? Well, apparently the top bods are keen to
make sure that this year's contestants don't hold back in
the Diary Room, something they were accused of doing last
year towards the end.
So, Diary Room conversations will not be broadcast
to the rest of the group under any circumstances this time
About the chosen contestant group, Top Brass have been keen
to point-out that they don't court wannabes, perhaps a reaction
to sites like BBO calling for more 'normal' people this time
BB Big Cheese Phil Edgar-Jones said, "Some people want
to be in the House for the experience and some are definitely
chasing fame," before adding, "What we're trying
to do is create a mix of people who would never normally share
the same room together".
Mind you, that's exactly what he wants the BB9 housemates
to do by all accounts, as apparently the producers are prepared
to screen live sex if it happens! Also, they've installed
new state-of-the-art microphones around the swimming pool,
so that viewers can listen-in to any steamy conversations.
Anyway, bosses seem to be promising us mostly normal housemates,
some of whom are a bit saucy, with just the odd cocky/ argumentative
character thrown-in for good measure. Worryingly, producers
haven't mentioned 'fun' in the build-up to the new series,
but an insider claimed, "We reckon this is our best line-up
"There's something for everyone and these are normal
people you could go for a beer with. It's going to be a great
Indeed, here at BBO we really hope so, because fans now
have 13 weeks in-which to either enjoy or tire of the latest
bunch to be locked-up for their viewing pleasure!
