'Sleep Deprivation' Task - Nominations Early

The housemates have been set a tiresome new task tonight... literally, tiresome.

You know how some of them regularly sleep-in until late morning, take afternoon naps every day and throw wobblers at the sound of the wake-up alarm? Well, there'll be no such problems for the next two days, as the gang won't actually be going to sleep. At all!

For the latest shopping budget task, Big Brother has installed soft cushions, beanbags and white bedding in the House, but will make the group stay awake for a total of 60 hours non-stop.

It's basically a scaled-down version of Channel 4's old reality TV show 'Shattered', which aired in 2004 and saw ten contestants battle it out to stay awake for up to a week.

During that show, where they also competed for a £100,000 prize, the contestants were allowed to sleep for 1 hour-a-day. However, during this BB task, which lasts until 11pm on Tuesday evening, the fourteen housemates will be allowed just 3 hours sleep between them for the duration.

As soon as one of them shuts their eyes for longer than a minute, a huge timer will start counting down, logging their failure to remain awake. Whatsmore, there will be no alarms or reminders from Big Bro, so it's up to them to Police their own shut-eye activity.

The only way they can win more time to add to the 3 hours allowed is by counting sheep, or more accurately, becoming sheep and jumping over fences in the garden!

You can bet that the all-scheming entity will try and make them all fall asleep by playing soft music or something like that. And we reckon there's bound to be the odd argument too, as time takes it's toll on the crotchety clan.

To keep them occupied for the first 24 hours, the Third Round of Nominations will take place earlier this week, starting at 2am on Monday morning instead of Monday afternoon. With so many contestants it's bound to take hours, which will take them to sunrise at least.

The task was announced to the group at 9pm tonight (Sunday), however they had already been awake for around 10 hours. So, it will take a huge effort to stop themselves catching some Z's for the remaining 50 hours.

Typical, where's hyper housemate Seany when you need him!
