The Big Twist: Someone Gets A Guaranteed £100k

Channel 4 built-up some hype for their big twist earlier today without really telling us much about it. Tonight, during the first live show on Channel 4, Davina introduced the twist but remained sketchy about the details. Grrr!

Sitting in the Diary Room chair in front of £100,000 in cash, the whispering Host explained that one housemate would get the dosh, and that the group would think the entire Prize fund had gone to this one person.

In other words, the housemates would be led to believe that after tonight, they will remain in the game 'just for the experience', and that whoever ends-up winning Big Brother 8 will get nothing for their trouble.

However, that was just a ruse, as the normal Big Brother UK prize fund of £100,000 is safe-and-well in Big Bro's bank. Furthermore, the person crowned the Winner in just over 10 weeks time will get their money. What a massive surprise that will be!

The great thing about this latest twist is that we wonder if anyone will now quit the game, feeling that there's no point in carrying-on?

Of course, that would be a completely mercenary act, but it will be interesting to see if it happens.

Thinking about it and putting our evil hat on for a minute, it would have been brilliant if Big Bro had declared to the fans that for every person who quits before the end of the series, an extra £20,000 would be added to the overall Prize fund.

Imagine the quitter's face when the penny dropped that not only had they potentially missed-out on the money, but they'd actually given more of it to the Winner!

Hmm, we're getting good at this, even if we don't mind saying-so ourselves.

Hey Big Bro... giss' a job!
