When Emily Was Sent Home

Further to our recent articles, we take a look at what happened in the Diary Room when Emily was removed from the game and sent packing by Big Brother.

As Nicky and Charley stood discussing their peer's controversial comments well into the early hours of Thursday morning (Day 9), Big Bro called a sleeping Emily to the Diary Room at just gone 3am.

The entity first asked if Emily needed a few minutes to wake up, but frankly it wasn't fair to call her in at that time anyway. Channel 4 evidently just wanted to make a point – that they were acting quickly – when this could have waited until the morning according to some fans.

Big Brother then went over the events that took place in the garden earlier that evening. In an attempt to defend her casual use of the 'n' word, Emily said, "I understand that people could have taken it the wrong way... back where I come from it's just a friendly term".

Furthermore, Emms accepted that it wasn't the smartest move, and claimed that such words are used in songs all the time. True of rap music, unfortunately.

She then looked absolutely gutted when Big Bro re-iterated the rules, prompting Emily to say, "I'm not going to say it was correct, but in the context (the word) was used, it was neither racially abusive or offensive".

But Emily soon snapped out of her sleepy daze when she was reminded that all housemates had been warned about such behaviour prior to entering the House. "Emily, given the very serious nature of this matter, Big Brother has no alternative but to remove you from the Big Brother House," added the omnipresent one.

Visibly shaken and somewhat stuck for words, the soon-to-be-expelled housemate mumbled, "I'm so shocked. I didn't realise that... I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean it offensively. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I would never mean it offensively".

Before exiting the Diary Room on her way back to reality, Emily thanked Big Brother for the opportunity and then broke down in tears.

The drama student now has plenty of time on her hands to reflect on her actions and take-in the seriousness of the matter.
