When Emily Was Sent Home
Further to our recent articles, we take a look at what happened
in the Diary Room when Emily was removed from the game and
sent packing by Big Brother.
As Nicky and Charley stood discussing their peer's controversial
comments well into the early hours of Thursday morning (Day
9), Big Bro called a sleeping Emily to the Diary Room at just
The entity first asked if Emily needed a few minutes to wake
up, but frankly it wasn't fair to call her in at that time
anyway. Channel 4 evidently just wanted to make a point –
that they were acting quickly – when this could have
waited until the morning according to some fans.
Big Brother then went over the events that took place in
the garden earlier that evening. In an attempt to defend her
casual use of the 'n' word, Emily said, "I understand
that people could have taken it the wrong way... back where
I come from it's just a friendly term".
Furthermore, Emms accepted that it wasn't the smartest move,
and claimed that such words are used in songs all the time.
True of rap music, unfortunately.
She then looked absolutely gutted when Big Bro re-iterated
the rules, prompting Emily to say, "I'm not going to
say it was correct, but in the context (the word) was used,
it was neither racially abusive or offensive".
But Emily soon snapped out of her sleepy daze when she was
reminded that all housemates had been warned about such behaviour
prior to entering the House. "Emily, given the very serious
nature of this matter, Big Brother has no alternative but
to remove you from the Big Brother House," added the
Visibly shaken and somewhat stuck for words, the soon-to-be-expelled
housemate mumbled, "I'm so shocked. I didn't realise
that... I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean it offensively.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I would never mean it offensively".
Before exiting the Diary Room on her way back to reality,
Emily thanked Big Brother for the opportunity and then broke
down in tears.
