Del Gets Straight To The Point

Let's face it, although Eugene displays puppy-dog enthusiasm for everything he says, he does talk a lot of inane and hideously boring rubbish most of the time... and takes ages to tell it to-boot!

So, Derek decided to give the stammering housemate some advice this morning.

Whilst many of his peers have come to love Eugene's mannerisms and the way he meanders before getting to the point, Derek has always looked as though he can't wait for the boffin to shut-up as soon as he gets started.

Today, Eugene, the King of using one thousand words when just a few would do, was bemoaning the fact that people always perceive him as a whitterer, even though he might actually be saying very little.

This prompted Derek, a speech writer by profession, to dish out some advice by tactfully saying, "The art of saying something is not just about using beautiful words".

Del then subtly suggested that Eugene should make his conversations and anecdotes more snappy, so that people won't have to listen to a lengthy amount to drivel and multiple asides before he gets to his oft-lame point.

"See how quickly you can make a point, so the listener understands something you say concisely," suggested the well-spoken political man.

However, Eugene was apprehensive at the thought, saying, "It'll need a hell of a lot of mental effort".

Aww, it's not easy being a mine of (useless) information!
