Celebrity Big Brother (3) Is Back!
Remember the original Celebrity Big Brother series back in
2001? Yeh, of course you do.
It featured overly-bubbly TV presenter Anthea Turner being
her usual annoying self, eccentric ex-boxer Chris Eubank being
even more annoying, and eventual Winner Jack Dee humorously
tunnelling-out and being pseudo-gutted when he wasn't evicted
The most memorable event, however, was when ex-Chat Show
host Vanessa Feltz cracked-up; she totally flipped out, scribbled
'big' words all over the dining room table and duly told Big
Brother to get lost. Brilliant!
The thing is, the second series in 2002 was something of
a flop. The six celebrities, including Les Dennis and Mark
Owen, were evidently very aware of what could happen to them
in the confines of the Big Brother house.
Consequently, all of the CBB2 contestants remained guarded
and gave little away about their private lives; conversation
was rather tame and quite frankly, the series dragged a bit.
It is for this reason that we felt there'd never be
another Celebrity BB series... but we were wrong.
For 'Celebrity Big Brother 3' begins in the new year, now
featuring eight celebrities instead of the usual six. That
said, a little bird tells us that bosses are planning to introduce
more contestants along the way, as in previous Big Brothers.
With the series extended to two-weeks, fans are being warned
to 'expect the unexpected'. Further to that, word is that
the producers have some really nasty surprises in store for
the hapless celebs. Aww, shame!
But who's set to enter the famous Elstree house this time
Aha, that's Top Secret information at the moment, however
some of the names bandied about over the past few weeks have
included disgraced ex-Chelsea footballers Adrian Mutu and
Mark Bosnich, sideburn-wearing racing pundit John McCririck
and Cherie Blair's lifestyle guru, Carole Caplin.
Then there's the obligatory female models and love interests
such as Victoria Silvstedt, glamour model Abi Titmuss and
Sven-Goran Eriksson's glamorous (but deluded) partner, Nancy
The fiery Italian recently suggested that she has replaced
Princess Diana in the hearts of the nation, but interestingly,
another rumoured housemate is the woman who replaced Nancy
in Sven's heart for a while, kiss-and-tell merchant Faria
Other (more interesting) possibilities include the feisty/scary
Danish actress Brigitte Nielson, 'Son of God' nutter and conspiracy
theorist David Icke, fallen entertainer Michael Barrymore
and troubled Eastenders actor Chris 'Spencer' Parker.
To be honest though, however much cash Channel 4 might have
dangled in front of them, those last two would be well advised
to avoid entering the Big Bro house at all costs.
After all, it sent Vanessa Feltz completely loopy and arguably
resulted in the break-up of Les Dennis' marriage. Fragile
celebrities, you have been warned!
We could continue to speculate, but whoever it turns out
to be, our spies tell us that the show's producers have had
to make changes to the house in order to accommodate one particular
housemate. Hmm, intriguing.
Roll on January the 6th 2005, when Celebrity Big Brother
3 begins on Channel 4 at 9pm.
