Big Brother 10 News                                                                     <<

The Crowd Has Spoken!

The Launch night crowd were certainly quite vocal tonight, and it got us wondering if their initial reaction might be a barometer for how well the housemates will do in the game?

Last year, on Launch night, the 'Big Brother's Big Mouth' audience were literally indifferent to eventual Winner Rachel Rice, and on first impressions they were much more excited about geeky Luke Marsden, skanky Mohamed Mohamed, nutty Kathreya Kasisopa and blind contestant Michael Hughes.

Granted, radio presenter Mikey got as far as Second place at the end of BB9, but you can't really tell what's gonna' happen by the fans' initial reaction. We say that because the same audience dubbed Rex Newmark 'evil' according to our notes, yet he managed to last the full 13 weeks and came Fourth at the series Finale.

The previous year, at the start of Big Brother 8, only female contestants entered the House to start with, and from the crowd's initial reaction it looked like chubby Welsh nanny Laura Williams was set to be really popular. However, that wasn't the case and she became the fourth evictee within a matter of weeks.

Even one-time campaigner Carole Vincent, who looked like she would be a mega-popular housemate going by the crowd's initial reaction, only managed to attain Fifth place that year.

Anyway, getting back to 2009 and the Big Brother 10 bunch, when Davina did a recap of who'd just entered the BB House tonight, here's what reaction each one solicited:

Freddie - no reaction
Lisa - little reaction, slight cheers
Sophie (blonde, not to be confused with Sophia) - booes
Kris - huge cheers
Noirin - booes
Cairon - cheers
Angel - big booes
Karly - booes
Marcus - cheers
Beinazir - cheers
Sophia - big cheers
Rodrigo - cheers
Charlie - cheers
Saffia - big booes
Sree - mixed reaction, mostly cheers
Siavash - booes

It'll be interesting to see if that turns-out to be any gauge of how long the BB10 housemates last in the game, with Kris and Sophia seemingly the two most popular so far, and Angel and Saffia the least liked... mind you, there were a lot of females in the crowd. Ahem!

In the meantime, please be sure to vote in our fun Polls, which are changed regularly throughout a series and can be found on the right-hand side of our Home page.
