Because the Big Brother format comes to an end for good (on
Channel 4) within a matter of days, talk about the show's
future is a hot topic with fans. And the housemates joined-in
with the discussion and speculation tonight.
During a late-night conversation in the garden, Brian opined
that if another TV channel licences the show from the programme-maker
Endemol, they will likely bring it back in 2011 rather than
rest it for a year.
This prompted Victor to suggest that Daily Express and Daily
Star owner Richard Desmond has already bought the show, which
would see it move to Channel Five. For the media mogul purchased
the TV channel in July for £103.5 million, beating bids
from Channel 4 and Endemol.
"I think whoever takes it will ruin it anyway,"
said Chantelle, while Brian replied: "I doubt they'll
bring Davina (McCall) or George (Lamb); I think they'll change
The former trolley dolly then wondered if the show would
work without long-term host Davina fronting it, but Nick and
Vic were adamant that it would, the former saying that the
contestants make the show, not the presenter.
Going back to Victor's comment about Channel Five, in fact
nothing has been agreed yet.
Since the reports a couple of weeks ago that Desmond himself
was in talks with Endemol to take Big Brother to Five, the
channel has failed to comment on the possibility of a deal
