I'm A Celebrity... GET ME OUT OF
ITV are set to launch a new show this weekend that could
appeal to Big Bro fans.
A kind of watered-down version of Survivor but without the
grit, the show features group of, ahem, celebrities who will
have to endure up to two weeks in the Australian bush.
Along the way, viewers will have the opportunity to vote
for which one of the contestants will face the daily Bushtucker
Trials; basically being covered-in maggots etc!
The public will also have the opportunity to 'vote people
off' one-by-one in the second week of the show.
All eight contestants have been trained in basic survival
tactics including fire-starting and how to avoid being bitten
by venomous snakes etc. Damn!
Here's the motley crew involved:
1. Posh 'It' Girl, Tara Palmer Tomkinson
2. A forerunner of top DJ Pete Tong (erm, that might be pushing
it! - Ed), ageing disc-spinner Tony Blackburn
3. Sure to 'go down well' (snigger), controversial MP's wife
4. Ex-World Champion Boxer and arachnophobe, Nigel Benn
5. The one-time face of Lara Croft, Nell McAndrew
6. World-renowned and spoon-bending 'Psychic', Uri Geller
(who's bound to plug his many books at some point, just wait
7. Quick-witted lesbian comedian, Rhona Cameron
8. Flagging actor and singer, Darren Day.
The group, includes it's fair share of millionaires and they're
sure to struggle without life's luxuries in the tropical rainforests
of Oz. But it remains to be seen whether any of them will
actually crack-up and scream, "I'm A Celebrity... GET
ME OUT OF HERE!"
Unlike Big Brother 3, 15p from all the 25p voting calls goes
to charity; Channel 4 take note! F.Y.I., to vote for the contestants
during the show, the number you need to call is 0901 11 55
55 x, substituting the x for the corresponding number above.
Hosted by Ant and Dec, 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'
starts on Sunday 25th August at 8pm, with coverage on both
ITV1 and ITV2. The series will be broadcast daily, until one
of the celebs is crowned King or Queen of the jungle on Sunday,
8th of September.
